The fire did not arrive to comfort me. It arrived to burn away the life I thought I was meant to live
— Ganesh Tajane
At first, the transition arrived quietly—not as a sudden vision, a dramatic revelation, or a moment that announced itself as important, but as a subtle, persistent restlessness. On the surface, my life continued exactly as it always had. I taught chess, pursued my personal goals, spent time with family and friends, and tried to move forward in the way the world expects. Yet beneath these ordinary daily routines, a profound question had taken root inside my consciousness: What am I really here for? This question refused to leave, growing stronger with each passing day. Every attempt to distract myself or return to normalcy only seemed to feed the flame, as if an invisible force was slowly, inevitably pulling me towards an unseen destination I could not yet comprehend.
Then, the dreams began. Initially scattered and fleeting, they gradually became more frequent, vivid, and intense until they felt far more real than waking reality itself. I would wake up in the dead of night with my heart racing, carrying deep emotions and energetic currents that lingered for hours. Some nights, I found myself dancing—not as Ganesh, but as something ancient and elemental. I would experience myself moving with an overwhelming, inexplicable force, immersed in a fierce and sacred dance that felt like Tandava itself. Other nights, I would encounter silent yogis and ancient beings whose faces I could not fully recall after waking, yet whose presence felt deeply familiar. Without a word being spoken, I knew that the mysteries they were showing me were of vital importance; I was not merely watching these dreams, I was living them.
As the months passed, the boundary between my inner world and outer reality grew thin. My thoughts carried unusual weight, and my awareness became continuously drawn inward, dominated by the constant rhythm of my breath. Whether during the busyness of the day, the silence of the night, or in moments of deep contemplation, my breath seemed tethered to a deeper intelligence. The closer I moved towards this invisible turning point, the more the inner pressure and the feeling of being called intensified. There were times when I wondered if I was losing control, not out of fear, but because the scale of these experiences exceeded anything I had ever known. My life was no longer moving according to my own plans; a powerful, patient, and ancient force had entered the story, determined to guide me onward.
I did not know where this path was leading, nor what awaited me in the shadows. I only knew that a sacred fire had been lit within my soul—and once lit, it would not let me sleep.
